Here is an overview of the trip to Meteora, one of the most spectacular destinations in Greece.
We begin early in the morning with pickup directly from your hotel or accommodation in Athens and drive toward Meteora, following the new highway. The journey takes approximately 3.5 hours, offering a comfortable and scenic route through mainland Greece.
During the journey, there is also the option to make a short stop at Thermopylae, the historic site of the famous battle of King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans, where you can see the Leonidas monument and take photos.
Upon arrival, you will experience the unique landscape of Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its extraordinary rock formations rising dramatically from the ground. Built on top of these natural pillars are the famous Meteora monasteries, some of the most remarkable religious sites in the world.
Today, six active monasteries can be visited, each offering breathtaking views and a unique insight into centuries of monastic life. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to explore selected monasteries, admire the architecture, and enjoy panoramic viewpoints over the entire area.
We also pass through the town of Kalambaka at the foot of the Meteora rocks, completing the experience of this unique destination.
After the visit, we begin our return journey to Athens in the afternoon, bringing the day to a memorable close.
