Here is an overview of the full-day tour to Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
We begin with pickup directly from your hotel or accommodation in Athens and head toward the Peloponnese, enjoying a scenic drive through the Greek countryside.
Upon arrival in Ancient Olympia, you will have the opportunity to explore one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is the sacred place where the ancient Olympic Games were born in 776 BC and continued for more than twelve centuries.
During the visit, you will walk through the historic sanctuary and the original Olympic Stadium, where ancient athletes competed for glory and honor. You will also explore the magnificent remains of the Temple of Zeus, which once housed the famous gold-and-ivory statue of Zeus created by Phidias, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The tour also includes a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, one of the finest museums in Greece, where you can admire exceptional treasures from the sanctuary, including the renowned Hermes of Praxiteles, one of the masterpieces of classical Greek sculpture.
After the visit, we begin our return journey to Athens.
